Book Production

From the hand-written manuscript to the final printed book - Take Note Publishing can handle all, or any part, of the process.

  • Traditional book printing
  • E-books
  • "Print on demand"
  • Loose-leaf workbooks
  • Catalogues
  • Instruction manuals
  • Examination papers

We can "enter" the process at any point, for example if you have written all your content in a "Word" document and would just like a couple of pictures adding and then a "print-ready" pdf file creating which you want to pass on to your own prining company then that is fine.

Take Note Publishing is happy to quote for any part of the process, or for a complete package. We can provide you with various options, tailored to your specific budget and requirements.

There are many elements to consider in the production of a book - here is a list of the most important:

  • Typing the words into a suitable software programme (e.g. Microsoft Word)
  • Taking or finding suitable pictures
  • Creating graphics, such as logos, charts, graphs, examples, cartoons, etc.
  • Editing pictures and graphics to fit the design
  • Design - deciding on the layout, fonts, sizes, colours, etc.
  • Layout - taking all the individual elements (text, titles, pictures, graphics, etc.) and putting them into a suitable publishing package to match the design brief
  • Proof reading
  • Copy Editing and checking - for example, making sure everything fits neatly into the design, checking facts, figures and references.
  • Creating a table of contents or an index
  • Outputting the finished document to a format which can be used in the final printing process (usually a "print-ready" pdf file).
  • Checking the final proofs before printing
  • The actual printing of the book
  • Finishing (sealing, binding and trimming)
  • Delivery, distribution, promotion, advertising and sales

Don't forget that we can also assist in the production of a digital version of your book.
